The tense situation on the gas markets is currently leading to the second escalation stage in the “Gas Emergency Plan”, but is not yet leading to a shortage of gas supplies.

“However, it is uncertain when utility companies will be given the opportunity by the Federal Network Agency to increase gas prices outside of existing contracts in accordance with the Energy Security Act,” explains Andreas Eichhorst, board member of the Saxony Consumer Center.

“Citizens should not bear the burden of this uncertainty alone. Saxon politics has the chance to make a difference for the people of the Free State. Approaches to relief include, for example, the promotion of energy saving programs, a moratorium on energy cuts or subsidies for particularly affected groups,” suggests Andreas Eichhorst.

In addition to politics, consumers are now also responsible for making energy consumption as efficient as possible. The individual offers from independent energy advice help. “The experts really know all the tricks and tips on how significant savings can be achieved in rented apartments and private homes through small changes in everyday life,” says Eichhorst from his own experience: “Saving energy is easy on the wallet and contributes to overcoming the crisis.”
