The claim

Apparently an event called “Catastrophic Contagion” is Bill Gates’ planning for the next pandemic.

Our conclusion

“Catastrophic Contagion” was not an announcement or even planning of a new pandemic, but, as in previous years, a so-called “tabletop exercise” by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security Practice an emergency at the table to be prepared for emergencies and to identify weaknesses.

During a fire drill, no one actually comes to the idea that a house will definitely burn down soon (although sometimes this is close in time, but correlation is not causation). However, during the “Catastrophic Contagion” preparedness exercise that took place in October 2022, conspiracy myths are certain that Bill Gates is using it to plan the next pandemic - which is of course completely secret!

The claim

In the German-speaking world, the claim became known through a site from Switzerland that claims to report “uncut news” (archived HERE ). Accordingly, Gates was “ caught ” targeting teenagers and children in a dystopian preparedness exercise called “Catastrophic Contagion.”

The headline of the article in question

Courageous whistleblowers ” are said to have now revealed this. The article then gets lost in wild claims about “Event 201,” which we’ll get to in a moment, before returning to the actual topic: Gates is planning a serious pandemic that particularly targets young people and children.

Several screenshots with texts about “Catastrophic Contagion” are also embedded, although the sources are not named - which is not surprising, as otherwise it would come out that nothing about the preparedness exercise is secret. Accordingly, greater action should be taken against misinformation, which means for the “uncut news” that “ there will be even more censorship and suppression of free expression ”.

By the way, the article in question does not come from the site itself, but was copied word for word from an article on the site “News Punch” (archived HERE ), a site that practically produces fake news on a non-stop basis (see HERE and HERE and HERE ).

A quick detour: Event 201

Did you notice that a German pop singer recently said in an interview that all the prophecies about COVID-19 and the vaccinations had come true? Well, he misjudged that pretty badly . The article now claims that Event 201 “ went exactly as they predicted .”

Really? Let's take a quick look again at what the factors of the Event 201 pandemic exercise ( we reported ) were:

  • The trigger was a coronavirus
  • Trade and travel opportunities are restricted
  • The global economy is crashing
  • At the end of the exercise, the virus caused 65 million deaths in just 18 months

The pandemic exercise was anything but ideal: it turned out that there was still a lot of room for improvement for governments, organizations and companies. However, in the exercise the virus was also far more aggressive and immune-resistant than SARS-CoV-2.

A prophecy of the Corona pandemic was the exercise that was claimed in October 2020 to be the plan for the pandemic, so not really. The choice that a coronavirus caused the pandemic in Event 201 was also more likely based on probability, as the last major epidemic, the 2003 SARS epidemic, was also caused by a coronavirus and could easily have become a pandemic.

The video that was distributed about it

Regarding this event, there is also a video that is often shared on social media as proof that Bill Gates is already planning the next pandemic, for example here on Twitter :

A video should be proof

The tweet with the link to the video says: “ Bill Gates has announced the next pandemic. It tells us the name of the new pandemic, the date of the outbreak and where the pandemic will break out!

also on BitChute , with the note that the spread of the so-called SEERS virus is already planned for 2023 and that they only want to distract by mentioning the year 2025.

What many people seem to overlook is the constant message at the bottom and top right of the video that this is a fictional scenario.

video , on the outbreak of a disease called SEERS ( Severe Epidemic Enterovirus Respiratory Syndrome ) . The virus could cause a pandemic if measures are not taken in time.

Afterwards, several people, such as the former health minister of Senegal and infectious disease specialist Awa Marie Coll-Seck, can be seen discussing how such an impending pandemic should be dealt with.

The “Catastrophic Contagion” event

The “Catastrophic Contagion” is so secret that there is even a short video about the event. Even better: The “Center for Health Security” even writes about it on its own homepage (see HERE ). The screenshots shown in the distributed article without a source also come from there.

Accordingly, the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, in collaboration with the WHO and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, conducted the pandemic exercise “Catastrophic Contagion” on October 23, 2022 at the annual meeting of the Grand Challenges in Brussels, Belgium.

Participants included ten current and former health ministers and senior public health officials from Senegal, Rwanda, Nigeria, Angola, Liberia, Singapore, India and Germany, as well as Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The exercise simulated a series of meetings of the WHO Emergency Health Advisory Board dealing with a fictional pandemic in the near future. Participants grappled with the question of how to respond to an epidemic that is spreading in one part of the world and becoming a pandemic with a higher mortality rate than COVID-19, disproportionately affecting children and young people.

Participants were challenged to make urgent policy decisions with limited information in the face of uncertainty. Every issue and every decision had serious health, economic and social impacts.

The results of the event

The following insights were gained from the fictional scenario:

  • Leaders must prepare now to make difficult, critically important decisions with limited information in the early days of the next pandemic to increase the chances that a dangerous outbreak can be contained at the source
  • Countries should establish a global network of public health experts who can work together to improve preparedness and response to epidemics and seek consensus on scientific issues in advance of the next major outbreak
  • Countries should prioritize efforts to increase trust in government and public health, improve public health communications, increase population resilience to misleading information, and curb the spread of harmful misinformation
  • WHO Member States should strengthen international systems for sharing and allocating scarce public health resources

Or in short: The trials and tribulations at the beginning of the corona pandemic must no longer occur so that another pandemic of this magnitude can be prevented.

Conclusion

According to Cagla Giray, communications director at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, told Reuters , the fictional virus in the event was intended simply as an educational technique " to help participants grapple with the types of policy dilemmas that arise during large-scale emergencies in the United States." are predictable in the public health sector .”

This is by no means an announcement or even planning of a new pandemic, but, as has been the case in previous years , a so-called “tabletop exercise”, i.e. practicing an emergency at the table in order to be prepared for emergencies and to find out weaknesses.
