The claim

A widely circulated photo allegedly shows King Charles with his jacket buttoned incorrectly.

Our conclusion

The King was still a Prince back then, as the photo is from 2018.

At some point there comes a day for every child when mom or dad no longer buttons their jacket and instead says: “You’re already grown up, you can do it yourself.” But some may have to wait decades before they can button their jacket themselves. This at least implies a picture of King Charles that is circulating on WhatsApp.

The picture of Charles

In the photo circulating, Charles didn't necessarily button his jacket very cleverly:

Above the photo it says: "First day at work without mom... pay attention to the jacket."
And yes, we were mean enough and put a watermark over it so that you don't copy it out of the article and spread it further. We're spoilsports, remember?

The origin of the photo

The photo is from November 2018 , when the King was still a prince and visited Nigeria. It is used in numerous articles about his visit, for example in the Daily Mail Online and Town & Country .

The photo can also be purchased for articles on GettyImages (see HERE ), starting at €150 - which of course didn't particularly bother the creator of the funny share pic.

Conclusion

His mother was probably not there when Charles was in Nigeria in 2018, so the blame can only be placed on himself, a dressing assistant (do royals have that?) or Carmilla.

So if you also receive the sharepic on WhatsApp, then prove yourself to be a worthy killjoy, like us, and reply with a link to this article. You will then definitely receive fewer Sharepics - because we could also have an article about it. 😉
