This is what the Equinix report “Global Tech Trends 2022” says. Equinix surveyed 2,900 IT executives worldwide. According to the report, 72 percent of companies plan to expand in the next twelve months and see cybersecurity and data regulation as the biggest challenges to their growth, followed by security breaches and data leaks, which 70 percent cited.

Data protection and shortage of skilled workers

According to the survey, many companies are also concerned about legal data protection changes, a lack of IT specialists, the sudden influx of data due to the introduction of new technologies and downtimes due to infrastructure problems. In addition, 59 percent of companies suffer from ongoing supply chain disruptions. 58 percent cited the global chip shortage as a threat to their business growth.

According to the report, 85 percent of companies consider improving cybersecurity their top priority. This is also advocated by BITKOM, which even calls for a uniform strategy for the NATO area ( HERE ). Other top priorities for technology strategies include data compliance, future-proofing the business, improving customer experience and accelerating innovation, according to the Equinix report.

“We believe these priorities can help companies prepare for global headwinds and perceived threats such as environmental impacts, cyberattacks and new waves of COVID-19.
Companies around the world are increasing their digital investments to address these challenges and plan for new and evolving technologies such as Web3, Digital Edge and 5G.”

For many IT decision-makers, the responsible use of CO2 emissions is important: 65 percent only want to cooperate with partners who can help achieve the goals of CO2 reduction.
