However, the chance to receive an annual ticket from DB (Deutsche Bahn) is reserved for residents of Germany. This claim is spread by supposed travel sites or a site that calls itself “Auction Prices for Railway Tickets”.

“Deutsche Bahn offers all residents of Germany a Deutsche Bahn card for unlimited travel for just €1.95
Simply click on the button below and answer a few questions to receive your card
The number of tickets is limited!”

“ The DB offers the opportunity to purchase an annual ticket for just €1.95.
Only for residents of Germany
Only available in limited quantities!”

Just for comparison. The BahnCard 100 for 1st class currently costs 7,356 euros for one year and 4,339 euros for 2nd class.
After all, you can use it to travel all over Germany for a year. So what a bargain! - Secure? No. CERTAINLY NOT!

Fake: No BahnCard from the DB – data is being tapped!

There are links “Apply now” or “More information” under the posts.
Here you will be directed to a page that has the DB logo. Otherwise, this has nothing to do with Deutsche Bahn! First you have to answer a few questions and then enter your details (name, address, telephone number, email address).

To know that this is not a reputable site, there are a few clues:

  • A look at the URL shows us “ogico.info” or subsequently “bahncard.jlzte.com” – Even if the term “bahncard” appears in the second URL, the domain “jlzte.com” speaks a clearer language . These are not official websites of Deutsche Bahn. These can still be found at “ bahn.de ”.
  • Grammar or spelling. The date is given as “March 14, 2023”. No German spelling!
  • In the input fields for your address you will be asked for the “ZIP” code. ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) corresponds to the zip code, although the term “ZIP” is more commonly used in the USA.
  • The Facebook pages have only existed since March 8th. There is no imprint or contact option - with the exception of the dubious websites.

After clicking “Continue” we find ourselves at a dead end. But our experience leads us to suspect that the cost of the 1.95 euros will probably be followed by a request for credit card details.

You do not receive a BahnCard. But his personal data has now been passed on to fraudsters.

But the comments...?

Yes, there are user comments in the Facebook posts that are supposedly happy about the extremely cheap BahnCard. But these are fake comments. We compare the comments on two different posts and find this, for example:

Conclusion

These are fake offers. There is no DB (Deutsche Bahn) BahnCard for 1.95 euros.

Such supposed bargain prices can be found in abundance on Facebook. These are often, for example, Dyson vacuum cleaners, which are usually not available for less than 600 euros, expensive suitcases from Samsonite or Lego sets that are supposedly available for 1.95.

All of these “offers” are fakes. Either there are data collectors behind it who are after personal data or even credit card data. In the worst case, you even download malware onto your cell phone or PC.

If something is too good to be true, it usually is. Therefore: Don't naively pass on your data to strangers! You can only lose here.

However, whoever cashes in on these fakes is Meta or Facebook. Because these posts are also distributed as advertisements that are paid for on Facebook.
