If you search for employment in various job boards on Facebook, you may come across a tempting offer for your hair donation. In order to make wigs for cancer patients, people are willing to pay you up to 2,000 euros for your hair.
Attention: If you contact us here, you will be given precise instructions on how to cut your hair and promise payment upon collection. But then your hair is gone, you are blocked and any contact is impossible, warns our cooperation partner Watchlist Internet .
Tempting offer online
Like many areas of our everyday life, the search for a job has largely moved online. It may be that you come across a suitable job offer when scrolling through social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok or Instagram. If you are currently browsing job boards on Facebook, beware of the following job offer that promises you large amounts of money for your hair donation:
Ad text in exact wording
So they promise 2000 euros in cash for your long hair and ask you to simply contact them via private message and send photos of your own hair. The text mentions “every federal state in Germany”, but the advertisement can also be found on Austrian job exchanges and those affected in Austria have already been reported to us.
What happens after contact is made?
Everything else is then agreed upon in a chat with the profile that advertises the offer on the job portals. The payment is fixed and sometimes more than the 2000 euros offered in the advertisement is promised. Instructions are then provided on how to cut the hair in order to make it usable as a donation. As soon as the hair has been cut off, an employee should pick it up and hand over the money.
In fact, the hair is never picked up or the agreed payment is made. Instead, those affected are blocked and all contact is broken off.
Please note: Hair donations are usually made without payment! Especially when it comes to making wigs for cancer patients. Ask your hair salon about a donation option. Many salons work with relevant institutions.
