As the ORF reports, unknown people create fake profiles or fan pages on social networks - for example with the names "Spar Fans" or "Spar International" and post fake competitions to lure consumers into a trap!

False “savings” competitions on Facebook, WhatsApp and Co

The false competitions are spread on social networks such as WhatsApp , Facebook ( there was even a case from 2014) or Instagram, but also via email .

According to the ORF, the company spokeswoman emphasizes that even for companies as large as the Spar Group, it is difficult to take action against such cases of fraud. We have a very good IT department and also a very good legal department that are taking care of the problem. The company spokeswoman also admits that you can often successfully pursue fraud, but sometimes you can't.

Do not click on links or enter personal information in dubious competitions. For serious offers, companies must provide conditions of participation, an imprint and a contact option.
