Supposed competitions are repeatedly shared via WhatsApp, this time in the name of the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways). The short text that can be read in the message talks about “ÖBB 100 years of state transport funding”, which “every citizen” can benefit from:

Here too – as with so many fake competitions – all you need to do is look at the attached link. The URL does not point to an ÖBB page ( oebb.at ), but to “cohesiveradate.top/…”, which probably cannot be assigned to ÖBB.

However, curious people may click on it to see what's behind it. And then the familiar click marathon begins:

It is announced here that you have the opportunity to receive 2000 euros.
All you have to do is answer a few very simple questions. Once you have done this, your answers will be checked and you will be informed that you now have the chance to win gifts. And of course it works. In such “competitions” you supposedly always win. It never says “Oooooh, what a shame, unfortunately that didn’t work this time.”

In order to receive the promised 2000 euros, you have to follow certain rules.
This means, among other things, that you have to tell 5 WhatsApp groups or 20 contacts via WhatsApp about this action. You then enter your address and complete the necessary registration. And then you should receive your winnings within 5 – 7 days. – At least that’s what the info text says.

But in reality...

...you don't win anything here.
You harass your WhatsApp contacts by sending them the very message that started it all.
And the wheel continues to turn when more people follow the link to take part in the competition. And after following the necessary steps, you find yourself in front of a page that asks you to download mobile games. For the “ridiculous price” of just 4.99 euros per week.

At this point at the latest you should have noticed that you have fallen for fraudsters.

Conclusion

So you don't win anything here, you can only take out an expensive subscription for mobile games, for which you can then shell out 4.99 euros per week.

You have also entered personal data and can probably look forward to spam and other attempts to sell subscriptions in the future. In the worst case scenario, you may have even downloaded malicious software onto your cell phone.

The organizer of this alleged competition is not ÖBB!

Therefore: Be suspicious when such competitions appear via WhatsApp. Like this one, they have nothing to do with the companies mentioned. In this case, the ÖBB brand and its logo were misused for fraudulent purposes.

What is also noteworthy here is that the same “end result” is currently circulating in a fake competition in the name of LIDL: HERE
