“Facebook Policy” appears as the sender of the emails. But the email address behind it speaks a different language:
No reputable company uses such cryptic email addresses for their mailings.
Allegedly, content on the recipient's Facebook page violates intellectual property (copyright or trademark) policies. You should check your content and remove it.
You should also respond to this email within 24 hours, otherwise the page would be deactivated and set to “unpublished”. Repeated violations would result in permanent deletion of his page.
However, if this message was made in error, you should contact the Facebook Help Center using the link contained in the email and file a complaint.
Link does not lead to Facebook help page!
If you click on the link in the email, you will be asked to provide personal information on a fake Facebook page. Your name, telephone number and email address are requested here. On the next page you also have to enter your password. The two-step authentication is then initiated and you receive a code on your cell phone.
If you then enter this into the fake page, the criminals behind this phishing scam have full access to the corresponding Facebook account!
The respective Facebook account as well as all related Facebook pages and groups can now be taken over. From this moment on, the original user no longer has access to their account.
Be careful about sending messages in the name of Facebook Policy!
We recently reported on an almost identical phishing scam. The procedure was the same. However, the email claimed that they would lose the blue tick that denotes verified pages because they had also violated various Facebook policies. You can find our article about it HERE .
