The last nationwide warning day was in December 2022. Individual warning systems were tested here throughout Germany. The next test alarm is now scheduled to take place on March 9th at 11 a.m.
Warning day expiry
The relevant warning systems are triggered in both Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Then all citizens should receive a warning. In addition to warnings that are sent to mobile devices, there are also classic sirens. These are also tested on the warning day and should sound for one minute.
Cell Broadcast
The new Cell Broadcast tested. This started at the end of February 2023. No app is required for the service. For example, it should automatically send a message to the smartphone in the event of natural disasters.
In newer cell phone models, Cell Broadcast is already activated; in older cell phone models, the user may still have to take action. You should check whether emergency notifications are switched on and, if necessary, you should carry out the latest cell phone update.
There is no need to prepare the population. If you want to make sure that the warning ends up on your cell phone, you can also install or update one of the three warning apps Nina, Katwarn and Biwapp.
